The lyrics for “There’s a Song in the Air” were written by Josiah Holland in 1872.  Music was added to the poem many years later. There is something amazing about this simple childlike Christmas poem.

There’s a song in the air!
There's a star in the sky!
There's a mother's deep prayer and a baby's low cry!
And the star rains it’s fire while the beautiful sing,
For the manger of Bethlehem cradles a king!

This first verse invites us to be captivating with Christ’s birth, as if we were physically there. It causes us to marvel at the charming simple expressive poem describing the birth of Jesus.

The second verse:

There's a tumult of joy over the wonderful birth,
For the virgin’s sweet boy is the Lord of the earth.
Every heart is aflame and the beautiful sing
In the homes of those that Jesus is King!

My wish is that all could hear the story of the birth of Jesus in the air in each home of all the nations. Are these few sentences about the birth of Jesus ringing in your ears when thinking about this year’s Christmas celebration? Are you remembering the gifts given to family? Continue to make the birth of Jesus “a song in the air” in your heart and sing along!

In the light of that star lie the ages impearled!
Let’s all rejoice as we echo the song
Of the birth of Jesus, our Savior and King.
