The Little Drummer Boy

One of my favorite Christmas songs is The Little Drummer Boy, said to be based on an old Czech carol. The following are some of the lyrics: “Come, they told me; A newborn King to see; Our finest gifts we bring; To lay before the King; I have no gift to bring, that’s fit to give our King.”
Like the little drummer boy, I too, have nothing fit to give this baby who is the Son of God. But then I am reminded of Paul’s word, “Therefore, I urge you, brother and sister, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and precious to God. This is your true and proper worship” (Romans 12:1).
I hear the Lord whisper, “beloved, take your everyday, ordinary life – your sleeping, eating, going to work and walking around life, and place it before Me as an offering. Will you surrender the hardships, the confusion, the sorrow and even the sin you keep repeating and lay them down at my manger? Surrender your ALL to Me. Then stand back and watch Me work; watch Me work all these things for your good, for the good of others and for My glory.”
Beloved, are you willing to surrender your life anew to “the King of Kings and Lord of Lords” laying in the manger this Christmas season?
