I have always enjoyed performing “Go Tell It on the Mountain”. Have you ever really thought of its message? I must admit I had not until I was asked to write about it. It is one of those songs that is fun to sing but it is much more than that. It is a message that brings hope to those without hope. It’s a story of relationships being restored. It’s about the greatest act of love one can imagine. It is the news of the birth of Jesus; the Son of God becoming human to save all who believe in Him. It’s a call to go out and tell the world this wonderful news.
So how do we bring this message of hope to people who need hope? Do we deliver it with words alone? We need to speak the truth, but we also need to build relationships that give us the ability to bring the message to those who would otherwise not listen to us. More than speaking about this wonderful, joyful news, we need to live a life filled with joy and hope. We need to live a life that shows our faith in the one true God. To live a life that depends on God even through the hard times. Show the world a life with hope through the grace and mercy of Jesus the Christ. Go Tell It on the Mountain.
