Main Idea: We have images and ideas running around in our heads about what the Scriptures say. We selectively listen and interpret God's Word in a way that supports those ideas. Really listening in order to HEAR God's Word is very difficult because we have to allow it to change our minds.

INTRO to the NEW TESTAMENT: Four hundred years of history. God was silent and uncertainty reigned. People were almost wiped out, cities destroyed, nations rose up and then fell, families living on a thread of hope that got thinner as generations passed. That's what fills those few blank pages between the Old and New Testaments.
