Details: The Hoyt Arboretum is a 189-acre park featuring thousands of native, global & endangered trees as well as 12 miles of well-maintained hiking trails. The trails are in great shape, but they are muddy in places. The trail network makes it possible to piece together any number of loop hikes. The route we will take follows a permanent orienteering course in the park established by the Columbia River Orienteering Club. Orienteering is a navigational racing sport where participants find a number of control points using only a detailed topographic map and a compass. On Saturday’s hike, you can just tag along or take a map and lead the way. It’s not hard.

Some or all participants have the option of taking a side trip to the Pittock Mansion via the Wildwood Trail. That adds 1.8 miles to the hike.
