Oh, the joy the birth of a baby brings! The precious moments a mother experiences while holding her newborn baby, feeling the promise of all that is her child. This beautiful song provides a unique perspective of the birth of the Savior of the World. What had Mary understood when the angel Gabriel brought her the message that she would be the mother of “the Son of the Most High?” Mary did her part; she was chosen as the mother of God Incarnate and bravely said yes (Luke 1:26 – 38).
God entered the world as a human, in the womb of a woman, born and raised in a family. There was probably so much Mary didn’t know when she held her baby, cared for her toddler and watched as her child grew to be a man. She probably asked many questions of God the Father as she and her husband raised this most precious child, God the Son. Mary was a first-hand witness to so many moments, not recorded, and like many mothers, looking on and noting all the details of her son’s life. “But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.” Luke 2:19
“Mary, did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod? And when you kiss your little baby, you’ve kissed the face of God?”
